2017 Cannes Film Festival: Jury
The jury of 2017 Cannes Film Festival would be headed by globally acclaimed and award winning filmmaker Pedro Almodovar. The Spanish screenwriter and director has to his credits ‘All About My Mother’, ‘Talk to Her’, ‘Volver’ and ‘The Skin I Live In’. Pedro Almodovar has been a festival favourite for almost two decades now. His films are regularly in competition for the Palme d’Or.
‘All About My Mother’ had won the ‘Prix de la mise en scene’ or Best Director at Cannes. It went on to win the Academy Award and the BAFTA Award for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Film not in the English Language respectively. ‘Volver’ had won Best Screenplay at Cannes. Pedro Almodovar has won Golden Globes and numerous other international awards.
The cinefondation and short films jury would be headed by Romanian filmmaker Cristian Mungiu. The president of the jury for Caméra d’Or is French actress Sandrine Kiberlain. Other jury members, including those for the International Critics’ Week are Brazilian filmmaker Kleber Mendonça Filho who presived over the jury, Colombian producer Diana Bustamante Escobar, American film critic Eric Kohn, the director of Metropolis Cinema in Lebanon Hania Mroué and French Canadian actor Niels Schneider. 2017 Cannes Film Festival will be hosted by globally renowned actress Monica Bellucci, who would conduct the opening & closing ceremonies.

Australian actress Nicole Kidman will be present in 4 films in competition. In 2016, the Palme d’Or was awarded to “I, Daniel Blake” by Ken Loach.
